Cognitive Functional Therapy is a cognitive and behavioural intervention for people with disabling low back pain. It is underpinned by a multidimensional clinical reasoning framework to identify the modifiable and nonmodifiable factors associated with an individual’s presentation. It incorporates a person-centred approach to identify and target pain cognitions, emotions, as well as movement and lifestyle behaviours that drive pain and disability. The aim is to coach people with disabling back pain to effectively self-manage their condition.
Please note this Masterclass is hosted by James Davis Physiotherapy and is not part of the tiered learning pathway to become an Evoolve Certified CFT Practitioner.

What is this workshop about?
This is a practical ‘masterclass’ workshop – exploring the journeys of six different people with chronic back and neck pain through Cognitive Functional Therapy.
During this three-day workshop, Peter will take you on a journey. This will include helping you develop an understanding of:
Peter will work with two filmed and four patients in-person to outline the process of conducting an interview, examination and development of CFT management – as well as the clinical reasoning that underpins it. There will be numerous opportunities for questions and discussion.
Pre-course reading and course information will be sent by email.
It is highly recommended that candidates complete the Tier 1 - Knowledge module prior to attending the 3-day Masterclass to maximise their learning experience. It is not mandatory but would be helpful thereby allowing more time for clinical presentations and discussion. The theory of CFT will not be included in the Masterclass workshop.
