James, I cannot thank you enough.
When I came to you following a prolapse disc in my neck, I was a bag of nerves about my health. Your reassuring, kind, professional care is something I will never forget.
Your patient explanation of my condition, what had happened, what I could do about it and what the potential outcome could be all served to put my mind completely at ease.
You managed to give me the confidence (and the exercise programme) which has resulted in a full recovery. I love the setting; I love that I can park so easily. I love that you send a text to remind me of my appointment. I love that I can have very early appointment times before work; and I love that I am now back to full activities.
A heartfelt thank you James. To anyone reading this, you are in the best and the safest of hands!
Prior to seeing James for physiotherapy I was in constant - sometimes debilitating - pain.
Having seen him at his practice (and discussing the possibility of attending a seminar with Professor Peter O'Sullivan), I found that the breathing and physical exercises that James suggested gave me a great deal of relief. I'd like to thank James for putting me forward as a candidate for the seminar. I had to be driven to the seminar by a friend. Peter made me feel as comfortable as possible when I first winced into the chair on the stage in the lecture hall. I was racked with intermittent bolts of pain in my left leg and a claw- like constriction and pain in my lower back. During the next couple of hours, in front of hundreds of practitioners in the hall, Peter asked me lots of questions regarding my situation, level of (obvious to all) pain and the history surrounding my back condition and the resulting pain.
Through discussion, challenge and a series of gradually more difficult exercises, coupled with breathing correctly, Peter had me bending, squatting and even picking up and replacing boxes onto the stage. I'm still amazed at the almost miraculous transformation from when I arrived at the Royal Free to carrying out movements I had been unable to do for nearly a year.
I gladly returned the following day driving my own car this time, to (hopefully) help to reinforce the learnings from the previous day - for both the attendees and for myself.
I still find it amazing that I can now do things I haven't been able to for ages. This, I believe, is due to the refreshing and innovative approach taken by Peter and his team-and the group of therapists-who already use those ideas and techniques in their own practices.
I learnt that fear and pain are very closely linked.
I have been helped to a huge degree first by James Davis and then of course Peter, to break the 'fear/pain' link.
I've gone from a pain level of almost constant '10' down to '1' and on some blissful days; none at all. I am happy for my comments to be used freely in any medium, because I firmly believe that this approach can change people's lives.
Thanks again Peter and James, for inviting me to be there on the day to assist you in showing your colleagues and others the very insightful and powerful application of your ideas.
Kind regards and best wishes
After many years of suffering with various levels of back pain and seeking medical advice and specialist treatment, I still had no meaningful improvement. So I was thinking that I would have to suffer back pain for the rest of my life.. ......However, I was recommended by a friend to visit James and how glad I was !!! His understanding of my symptoms and the expertise he had in putting together a exercise regime tailored to my needs was nothing short of a revelation. In Just 10 weeks of focused exercise under the careful guidance and support of James he has transformed my day to day living to a level which I thought I would never get to, which is free of pain. The professionalism and calm manor in which James has guided me in just 4 visits would make me highly recommend him to anybody.
After being advised to have an operation on my back with only a 60% success rate, I decided to see James as a last resort. I now rarely suffer any pain and able to manage any pain I get. Glad I didnÕt have the operation. Highly recommended.
James literally saved my life.
I have had back problems from the age of 17 but at 24 I got so bad that for 3 years I was stuck in a bed in my living room unable to walk. I was in and out of hospital frequently with the extreme pain.
Doctors and hospital just kept giving me more and more pain meds which damaged my liver and never really helped, and told me it was all in my head I had nothing wrong with me but I knew the pain was real and something wasn't right.
I was left and told they couldn't do anymore and I would have to just live with it.
After the third year I finally got moving about with some NHS physio I was still house bound and having to use a wheelchair if I went out but could only be out for very short periods.
Then 2017 my back pain went so bad I couldn't stop screaming in pain and again I was rushed into hospital knowing I was going to have the same thing happen of being told there's nothing more they can do my depression and mood went down hill fast I thought this was it I would never be out of this pain and stuck forever like this.
I met a new surgeon in the hospital and he actually gave me a spinal block which worked for week it was the first time in 13years I had no pain, but unfortunately it wore of quickly.
He happened to have just heard about James and gave me his number, recommend I see him before they gave me surgery.
BEST THING I EVER DID
We couldn't really afford private treatment but had got to the point where we needed to do something. Straight away over the phone James could tell I was tensing and doing things wrong and started correcting me there and then before an appointment. He came to see me at my mother in laws where I had to stay for a while and within a week i was walking again, I had to work hard at it and change not only the wrong exercises I was given to do for years but my mind set.
At first I thought great another person who thinks it's all in my head and I'm not in pain but James helped me see that he knew the pain was very real but how the body remembers pain and can fool your nervous system into being so sensitive even the thought of doing something made you hurt.
This was exactly what was happening he corrected the exercises, made me move even more and changed how I thought about pain and gave me my life back.
If I hadn't of seen him and had the treatment I was needing for years I would have had an unnecessary operation and I would not be here today.
I recommend anyone who needs help or can't seem to find a solution to see him he will truly change your life.
I'm now walking miles and cycling I'm pretty much doing everything I can and more I never thought I would ever be back to me again and after losing all those years from doctors not understanding and telling me I was making it up to finally having someone who understands and really listens and helps I can do ANYTHING I want to.
Thank you so much James for giving my life back to me and for all you did without you I honestly wouldn't be here today xx
James has not only treated the pain and discomfort I was suffering with, but has also helped me to understand how posture and day to day activities can affect the body. When I regularly maintain the exercises and correct postures I have much less discomfort and pain. His help has been excellent and I would recommend his services.
Hi James,
I ran the Greater Manchester Marathon, with no pain from the issues I visited you with initially. Painful outer left knee - buttock pain and lower hamstring pulling pain. My time of 4:09 was not what I was hoping for, unfortunately I found myself out on my feet from around 18 miles - so the remainder was a combination of walking and running. (The conditions were warmer and sunnier than expected).
I really appreciate your clear diagnosis and the exercises you provided me with to get over what I thought may be something that stopped me getting to the starting line - so, many thanks for that! The confidence that provided me with was invaluable and made a huge difference to the way I approached and subsequently ran the marathon, mentally and physically. Best Wishes
After a cricket shoulder injury from last season, it seemed that an operation was needed. After my first visit to see James he identified a key reason why the pain still existed due to 'POSTURE' during working at a desk with the computer for many hours in the day & driving position. James indicated that these also would have been the main cause for the shoulder injury in the first place. So even if an operation was conducted the problem would not have gone away. Since last weekÕs first appointment I already have changed my work posture and attention to what James has told me with daily exercises. In this first week I can say I feel so much better with almost no pain in the shoulder, however he still needs to work on mobility of the shoulder over the coming weeks. So more exercises are key, but not any old exercises, these are very focused in the specific areas to regain the mobility. I am so glad I got the opportunity to have a second opinion from the surgeon and his recommendation to use James Davis. Looking forward for my first net!
Tremendous help and the relief
I had been suffering with back pain for many years, trying NHS Physio, chiropractors etc. where I started to finally give up and accept the pain. However in December 15 it got much worse to the degree that it hurt to stand or sit or doing anything and was affecting my day to day life. I started worrying at the age of 25 that I was never going to be pain free and normal again or worrying it was something worse.
I then went to a private hospital for various tests all looking for the worst case and once these all came back negative I was later referred to a specialist for back pain “James Davis”. I have only had 7 sessions with James and I am almost back to my normal self. I have to admit when I was first referred to James/physiotherapy I was sceptical because I have been to NHS physio before and it never helped. How glad I am that I gave my referral a go and met James.
Thank you so much for all your help James. Your knowledge in my back pain and knowing everything that helped has been tremendous help and the relief now from not letting back pain rule my life. Thank you for helping me feel like a young person again and given me my youth back. I honestly didn’t think I could go a minute let alone a day without thinking about the pain or letting it rule me.
I will continue with all the exercises and knowledge you bestowed to me and if I ever have problems again won’t hesitate to call you.
I could confidently and highly recommend James to other sufferers. His knowledge in chronic lower back pain is amazing. If you are as sceptical as I was prior treatment, try a session and you won’t leave without booking another and be on the road to a pain free life again.
Excellent in every way. Understanding the problem specific to my individual issues and the advice and confidence given to get on with a good quality of life is commendable.
